The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

This may sound strange, but I fell more in love with Jesus after seeing this movie in theaters a few years ago.  I’m watching it again right now, and each time I see it I am reminded that I really need to read the books again.

I don’t read a lot of C.S. Lewis, but I have always loved his allegory of the greatest story ever told.

One of my favorite quotes of all time:

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

“I’m longing to see him,” said Peter, “even if I do feel frightened when it comes to the point.”

I Am

I listened to this song last night and cried.  I am so thankful that the Lord reminded me that HE IS, and that not only is He my I AM, but also I AM for a very special little boy, and that I can entrust Him with a very uncertain future.

Useless

I have been pretty useless today, accomplishing nothing.

I’m grieving a little over the loss of something that is not mine, and for some of my coworkers who have lost husbands and fathers this week.  I grieve for the woman (I worked with) who was murdered by her husband.  I grieve for the children doomed to a lifetime of pain and scarring as a result of being fettered back and forth between foster homes and families that are unsafe.

I’m trying to count my blessings while so many around me are in such terrible pain and trusting that God has a plan for all of it.  It’s not easy.

It enrages me that babies in this country can go home with people who don’t give a care about anyone but themselves, and who play the system like Charlie Daniels plays the fiddle.

In this country, where we are so blessed and there is no shortage of people desiring to be parents, every child should go to a loving home.

Reading Corner

I am loving my new “reading corner” in my living room.  My mom and I found some leather chairs for a steal at a local warehouse last weekend and I love how they look in my house.  It’s nice to finally have some furniture in the living room 🙂

Love new furniture!!

What We Don’t Know

It’s amazing how much big companies keep from the public and how much money they spend to make us think that things like high fructose corn syrup is just fine when it is really terrible.  I finally signed up to be on the mercola.com mailing list and what I have read in just one e-mail is scary.  We, the public, need to stand up and tell big business that it’s not okay to sell food and cosmetics to us that are toxic!!!

To God Be The Glory

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Dr. 90210

I was watching Dr. 90210 today and there was this girl on who loved body mutilation/modification.  Not something that I’m into… honestly… I think it’s really dumb… but to each his/her own.  This girl had piercings all over her face, tattoos, and was on the show to get implants in her arm in the shape of a fish (subdermal implants).  There is an example of this below:

This procedure is done without anesthesia (because it’s not done by physicians), and in my opinion, should definitely be regulated just like any surgical procedure.  You can read a little more about it here.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to do this to their body… but I don’t understand a lot of things.
